After the Wedding: Displaying Your Bouquet as a Keepsake

Your clay bouquet was made to be kept.

The flowers come home with you

This is the moment fresh-flower brides don't get: the week after the wedding, when the bouquet comes home and takes its place in your life, not as a dried shadow of itself, but exactly as it was in your hands.

Here are the ways I love most to keep one.

The vase, in the light

The simplest and most loved: a beautiful vase on an entryway table or a bright shelf. A clay bouquet needs no water and no care beyond a gentle dusting, so it can live anywhere, including the sunlit spots that would finish fresh flowers in a day. It is the kind of piece guests stop and ask about.

Under a glass cloche

For a formal, heirloom feel: the bouquet under a glass dome on a sideboard or mantel. The glass keeps dust away entirely and turns the arrangement into a small museum of your day. Add the invitation or a wedding photo beside it and the vignette tells the whole story.

The shadow box

Hair flowers, a boutonniere, and small bouquet pieces arrange beautifully in a deep frame with your vows or a favorite photograph. This one is lovely when shelf space is limited. The whole wedding garden, on one wall.

The anniversary table

My favorite tradition: the bouquet returns to the table every anniversary, as the centerpiece of a dinner for two. I love picturing the years ahead: children setting the anniversary table around "Mom's wedding flowers." Fourteen years from now, that could be your table too.

Passed on

Clay flowers are sturdy enough, and timeless enough, to imagine one day being carried, or displayed, at a daughter's wedding. What other part of a wedding day can say that?

However you display yours, a few simple care habits keep it perfect: dust gently, keep it dry, and enjoy it daily. It was made by hand to be lived with.
